Even before we started from home, Chhavi and I were bargaining hard with each-other. She wanted her hair braided right at the gate. I told her that she had to let me take pictures, including hers! The deals in place we headed to the metro station to go to Dilli Haat. It was the mother daughter day out!

The sky is growing dark by the moment. The roads get narrower. The journey seems long and never ending. We traverse across regions that are sparsely inhabited but most of the time, I have just age old trees for company on the road . The hills part ways for us, the forests are enchanting, the rivers whisper along their course , while the roads meander around quiet sleepy villages. In #Jaipur for, I kid you not, a shopping expedition. On the list: fabric, silver and pottery. I'm not super wealthy at the moment (who is, who is) , but I did buy a few things I love like these silver and pearl earrings and this fish motif toe ring which I'm wearing on my finger. #traveldiary

At the airport, I sat on the bench waiting to board my flight. I was looking at my cell phone going through photos folder. Such a mixed feeling, happy to meet my family after two and a half years and sad that I will be missing my friends back in Seattle.
Yes it's been 27 long months since I am away from home. When I first landed in Seattle I didn't like it much. I was home sick for a long time. But today it feels almost like home.

Typical day pack for trekking
On a recent South Col trek in Ladakh, I noticed one of our trekkers struggling with the straps of his day pack. When I enquired, I learnt that the narrow waist band strap had broken and as a result all the pressure of the load was on his shoulders!
