Kolar was ruled by Gangas in 3 rd century AD who were succeeded by Cholas followed by Hoysalas and Vijayanagara rulers. Today, two old Temples stand as a testimony to those kingdoms. One of them is Kolaramma Temple situated at the outskirts of the town.
The Temple has two shrines in Dravidian architecture. Both share a common pillared Mantapa. The mahadwara (main door) has several nice carvings.
Inside the temple are the images of Saptamatrikas and Kolaramma, in the form of Mahishasuramardhini [...] |

Kumarakom is one of the highlights of a visit to Kerala and possibly one of the most sought after romantic holiday destinations in peninsular India. I recently visited this backwater paradise on my monsoon motorcycling holiday across Kerala. The stay was just for 2 days, but I was happy that those were 2 quality days. And one of the highlights was staying at a nice heritage homestay called the Tharavadu Heritage Home. Close to 150 years old, this place gives you the feeling of living in the luxurious past while [...] |

Yardenit Baptismal Site – River bank where Jesus was Baptised!
It was around noon when we reached the holy site of Yardenit Baptismal, situated on the southern coast of the Sea of Galilee.
Almost two millennia ago a man named Jesus was baptized here by John the Baptist, one the priests of that time, ministry of Jesus is said to have commenced then and there. The ceremony of Baptism, at that time, was more of purification of sins than what it means now. Much like washing away sins in the river [...] |

I don’t think I have ever seen as many people with infants in strollers as I did during our recent visit to Spain. Or as many with dogs of every breed, size and colour on leashes. After all the disturbing stories about how deeply most everyone we interacted with during our trip was affected by […] |

Chandratal was almost towards the end of out itinerary in Himachal, before we reached the urban center of Manali. Our bodies were showing signs of tiredness. Nostalgia lunch. Do you remember the time when this was The Burger and Nirula's was The Pizza and there were no other choices? It's cool to have choices, but sometimes it's nice to go back to a simpler time.

Seven years ago, my infamous You Are Here book launch at Agni and sorta, in a way, the launching of me as an author. Then I was young and hopeful, now I am old(er), cynical but still hopeful five books later. For what it's worth, I still choose to do what I do,so there's that.

I do have a large circle of friends and most of them are similar to me in a lot of ways. I also suffer from the absolute inability to cope with idiots. It is not that I am super intelligent and act snobbish.. it is just that if I can’t talk to someone at a certain level, then I get bored and it is the end.
When I meet someone new, the first thing I look for is (apart from their eyes). if they read. If they don’t,then they are not going to be my friends, because I have nothing to talk to [...] |
