That little speck is the Tiger's Nest Monastery
See that little white spot up there? That's Taktsang, or the Tiger's Nest Monastery in Paro , the most sacred site in all of Bhutan. Legend has it that Guru Rinpoche, the Indian saint who spread Buddhism across Bhutan, flew to the top of this cliff on the back of his consort, who took the form of a tigress. A monastery was built at the site in the 17th century. It hangs off the rockface dangerously at more than 3100m above sea level, and I demand to know why [...] |

The longest suspension Bridge in the world by Roebling in 1866
When we arrived at the Greyhound Station of ‘Biggest Small Town in US called Cincinnati ’ from Milwaukee little did I know there’s more to the town that catches the checklist as suggested online. It happens for every small town - things we do not know often becomes things we should. The fact that the roadway named US 52 is a drive that takes to the farthest end of West Virgnia all the way to Texas makes me think how great the [...] |

Continuity, rather than change, is the true hallmark of Narendra Modi’s foreign policy. True, he has been far more vigorous and muscular than his predecessor Manmohan Singh, but the difference is in tone and emphases, rather than substance. Nothing brings this out better than the recent developments with Pakistan. After a year of mixed signalling, the two countries have finally settled |

India got a reality check on Saturday when newspapers splashed the shocking conclusions of the first Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC) since 1934, which revealed the extent of rural deprivation. Its primary finding was that rural households make up nearly three quarters of the country’s population, some 884 million people, and that an overwhelming 74 per cent of them survive on a |

Writeup by Harish
A Travelogue
So I was asked to draft a write up for the trip "FotoPrem-II" and as I sit to write, I was completely blank. Like an writer who has a writer's block. But only that I knew what I had to write, but couldn't find the words. Any ways, as the write-up follows, you would understand that this is more than a travelogue. This is me conveying my thanks for the wonderful organizers who make great friends. And actually, I see them as two sides of the same coin, but I will get [...] |

Last year I went to Israel. I loved the country very much. The historical towns, the earthy colors, the desert safari, the people, the food and the Dead Sea!
When I was at the Jordan river to see the baptism site , I wondered if I can cross over to go to the other side which was another country …. Jordan.
Similarly while floating on the dead sea I had a secret desire to float to the other side. Well, my wish is going to be fulfilled now.
Tonight I am off to Jordan on invitation by Jordan [...] |

The beauty called Dal Lake It’s 7.30 in the morning, but Dal Lake — like the rest of Srinagar — is yet to fully wake from its slumber. The emerald-green lake and the surrounding mountains are awash in golden sunshine. A couple of shikaras languidly pass by my houseboat but none of them are tourist boats. They belong to locals out on chores or looking for an opportunity to sell their wares to a few ‘early’ risers like me.
Egret on Dal Lake My ride is supposed to begin half an hour later. [...] |

Accept the World at its Worst
Suppose the worst of the world is given to you; what would you do with
it?
You should not complain if you get the worst. If you have received the
worst, then things can only get better. And you are here to make it
better.
Jim: When things are at their very worst, there is only time and space.
(Laughter)
Patty: When you see life as suffering, then you go within.
Paula: It is like running out of breath and you have to inhale.
What happens [...] |
