Horses Plough The Field
Imagine when togetherness of family relationships is defined by abandoning technology in a place like America. When we waved ‘hi’ to a farmer ploughing with his 4 horses in Hillsboro,he waved back a hi’ .A moment later he was gone.May be he was confused on the attention he got - as it was his regular day but for us,ploughing with horses was new.I wondered how keeping horses was more cost-efficient than the cows but they live in an era that we as an outsider might never understand.I [...] |

It took me a while to understand US.The US that we know world wide, the powerful the magnificent the most developed does it have a soft side?A side that celebrates the culture worldwide.A side that is multi-faceted in the prim and proper as said, or as rustic and natural as the pictures speak of.The side that not many appreciate for the abundance of Other Touristic ‘Whatsoever’ to look at.I am surprised many ain't even aware of this side.
I wish it did fit me :) #PolishFest2015

It may surprise you a little that I am doing the Everest movie review. I watch movies infrequently and I hardly ever ‘review’ them, if I may call my random writing a review. But Everest is based on the tragedy that occurred on the mountain in 1996. And much before the movie was made I read two books on it, Into Thin Air and The Climb: Tragic Ambitions on Everest . Both of them are make for compelling reading. They are about the same event and yet they offer such different perspectives. I enjoyed [...] |

Over the years, though I have become largely aloof to faith at a personal level, my interest in the religions has grown tremendously, and a lot of credit can be given to travel which opened both my mind and soul to understand and accept. One faith that has intrigued me a lot is Buddhism and with India’s special connection to it, I always look out for it whenever I travel.
Here are two stories of Buddhism in the two far apart, yet spiritually connected, ancient Himalayan [...] |

I don’t actually want to pay for the news. Why should I? Everything I need is served up to me for free. And that’s not just the news websites. It’s my social media feed that blinks rapidly 140 characters upon another telling me about an earthquake or a fire or an announcement someone just made.
On the other hand, this is how I make my living. I write words for an audience, and the audience is meant to pay for my words. I have a dog in this fight, as it were, and it makes sense that my money [...] |

Yaya had her school formal ( prom) last week.
I never understood why formal was a big deal until last week. My impression of it was from all the American movies I watched. Girls getting dressed up and attending the event with her date, travelling in a flashy car etc etc.
The preparation for the event started few months ago. First was the dress. Do we get it stitched or buy? The choice of the fabric material was the next issue. Then the colour as it not only had to suit Yaya’s complexion, but [...] |
