Trekking Site of Sandeep Unnimadhavan

Almost heart broken watching a gang of people littering the valley leading to Mullayanagiri, by throwing around everything from plastic covers, to toffee wrappers ... to a big steel bowl. A more disturbing observation is that this gang was fully equipped with even a tent. Just wondering where else they'll be visiting? If u r among the gang who camped there on 13th January 2007 or atleast know them .... please dont do this, atleast for ur next trek. If not for the sake of wildlife or people who are going to go up these places after u, atleast for ur second visit to the same place !!!

For others, please spare me the regret that I was the cause of destroying these places - directly or indirectly. By giving out information about these places to the wrong people, I wudnt want to speed up commercialisation and dirtying up these places!

So ... one humble request to all the people planning to go to these places. Please respect nature and remember other people. Never litter these wonderful places. Infact, it will be great, if you can pick up some of the litter (especially the non-bio-degradable) and carry it back. Please abstain from smoking and drinking when you are with nature. Even if you cant help it, please make sure that you dont drop cigarette buds and liquor bottles in these places. Atleast, carry them back. If couple of us show some responsibility, we can keep these places clean and pristine!!!

What's New?

First attempt @ climbing Vellarimala, near Kozhikode, was unsuccesful, due to lack of time and preparation. Managed to scale Vellarimala & Masthakappara during the 2nd time ... and it was indeed one of the toughest I've done. Still came back unsatisfied leaving behind Vavul Mala (tallest peak in western ghats north of Nilgiris - 2339m) unconquered. Cant wait to take a shot at that too ... on a 3rd trip!

Second trek to the littered Mullayangiri and carried back a lot of litter. Mullayanagiri Trek page updated with a little more details.
